How it works

  1. Upload a PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP — or paste a URL, or paste an image from the clipboard — or click Text and type a word such as APPROVED, SKIP or LGTM.
  2. Pick a style. Every card previews your image with that animation; tweak speed, direction, size, colour mode and crop.
  3. Download the GIF (or WebP/APNG) and add it to Slack under Customize → Emoji. The badge tells you it is under 128 KB; Fit shrinks it if not.

Frequently asked questions

Will the emoji work in Slack?

Yes. Renders default to 128×128 px, and every card shows the file size with a “Slack ✓” badge when it is under Slack's 128 KB limit. If a style comes out larger, the “Fit” button re-renders it with fewer colours, frames or pixels until it fits. Discord's 256 KB limit is satisfied automatically.

Which formats can I download?

Animated GIF (default), animated WebP and APNG. A style with a single frame is delivered as PNG.

What happens to my image?

Uploads, text renders and the emoji made from them are kept on the server for 24 hours so the grid loads quickly, then deleted. There are no accounts and nothing is shared. Usage statistics are anonymous — no IP addresses, cookies or personal data are stored.

Can I use an animated GIF as the source?

Yes — up to 60 frames. The style is applied to every frame, and the “none” style simply resizes the animation.

Can I make a text emoji such as APPROVED, SKIP or LGTM?

Yes. Click “Text”, type up to 40 characters (up to three lines), pick a font and the text and badge colours, and every style renders it — the “none” style gives you a static badge for Slack reactions. Text is sized automatically to fill the emoji, so short words read best.

Can I crop the image?

Yes. After uploading, click “Crop” to frame a square — drag it over a face to put that face into the pet, party-parrot or jammies styles, or drag a corner to resize. Leave the square untouched to keep the whole image.

Can I download several styles at once?

Yes. “Download all” in the results toolbar packs every style currently shown — narrow it down with the category chips or the search box — into one ZIP, each file already under Slack's 128 KB limit and named after its style, ready for Slack's “Add Custom Emoji”.

Can I share an emoji with my team before adding it?

Yes. The 🔗 button on a card copies a link to a page showing that emoji; pasted into Slack, the emoji unfurls right in the channel. Anyone with the link can download it or remix the same image with another style. Shared links stay live for 24 hours after their last view.

How will it look in Slack?

Click a card's thumbnail to preview the emoji in a mock Slack conversation — inline in a message (22 px), on its own (32 px) and as a reaction (16 px) — in Slack's light and dark themes, before you download it.

Can I add my own artwork or characters?

Not at the moment. Every emoji is made from your own image or text, and the built-in costume, sticker and scene styles supply the artwork around it. Custom characters may come later.

Is it free?

Yes. Emoji Gen is free to use — no account, no sign-up, no watermark.
